Jason Statham To Return For The Mechanic 2

There is nothing in cinema more reliable than Jason Statham - which is a nice way of saying the action star makes the same movie over and over again. But who cares as long as it’s full of clear, concise, well-shot R-rated action? Statham doesn’t fool around with the formula, which is what made 2011’s The Mechanic so enjoyable for his hardcore fans, and so inoffensively skippable to those who have grown tired of the formula. This was Statham’s first collaboration with director Simon West (Con Air), with West getting along so well with Statham and the producers at Nu Image that he was recruited afterwards for The Expendables 2.

The Mechanic, where Statham played a covert assassin, wasn’t even one of Statham’s most successful films - it didn’t crack $30 million domestically, and overseas it collected only $21 million - but, still, it was apparently enough: THR reports that one of the projects seeking financing at the European Film Market is The Mechanic 2, which is set to be directed by Dennis Gansel. Nu Image is once again behind this effort, with Statham returning to the role that made him… uh… stay just as famous as he’s always been. For anyone who has seen the first film but has difficulty remembering exactly what happened, it served as a remake to the 1972 Charles Bronson film of the same name. That picture, directed by Michael Winner, was a far superior movie, featuring a compelling central conflict between Bronson and eager young protégé Jan-Michael Vincent, and it has one of the genre’s all-time great endings. The remake was a noticeably cruder vehicle, memorably cheaping out on that famous ending in a way that only a contemporary remake could, but it featured several bone-rattling brawls and a fun dynamic between Statham and Ben Foster.

A Tribute to Paul Walker

Born in California in 1973, Paul Walker made his big-screen debut in the 1986 horror spoof Monster in Your Closet. After appearing in several television shows in the 1990s, including Charles in Charge, Who's the Boss? and The Young and the Restless, Walker gained attention with a role in the 1999 film Varsity Blues, and his TV days were officially behind him. After working in teen movies such as She's All That and The Skulls,

Walker got his breakthrough role in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious, which would become his star vehicle and keep him busy through four sequels and a short prequel. The Fast and the Furiousfranchise established Walker as an action-film mainstay, and he went on to appear in several films in the genre, including Takers, Hoursand Vehicle 19. Walker died in a car accident on November 30, 2013, at age 40.

Here's Everything We Know About A Ride Along Sequel

We expected Ride Along to be a hit. Kevin Hart and Ice Cube have strong followings, and the buddy cop formula has proven to be a gold mine in the past. (Ask Paul Feig how The Heat did last summer.) But I don’t think any of us expected it to approach $100 million in January. Mama topped out at $71M in 2013. Mark Wahlberg’s Contraband stalled at $66.5M in 2012. And neither are threatening to launch a film franchise.


We actually first reported on a potential Ride Along sequel back in April 2013… a full nine months before director Tim Story’s comedy had even reached a single theater. Universal executives must have really liked what they were seeing from the chemistry between Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, because they voiced enough support in the movie to say that a sequel had been "greenlit." Of course, if Ride Along did Jack Ryan numbers, this sequel would go back into the special vault Hollywood reserves for stink bombs. But Story’s movie connected, so the wheels on a sequel should keep turning.

Transformers: Age of Extinction Trailer Reveals Grimlock and the Dinobots!

During tonight's Super Bowl Paramount Pictures unveiled the very first trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction. In the never-before-seen footage the highly anticipated first look at the Dinobots and Grimlock has finally been revealed. In the Transformers universe the Dinobots are a subgroup of Autobots that transform into dinosaurs. It also seems we'll be seeing Terrorcons in the movie. Terrorcons are a group of five Decepticons under the command of Galvatron. The Terrorcons transform into nightmarish monsters and combine to form the "combiner" Abominus. It's not exactly known at this time what storyline arc the film will take with the original characters and the new characters. Check out the first trailer below!

Need for Speed Gets a Last Minute 3D Conversion

The action-thriller starring Aaron Paul is still set for release on March 14th.


In a surprise, last-minute announcement, DreamWorks revealed that it will be releasing Need for Speed in 3D when it hits theaters on March 14. That only gives the studio 38 days from now until its release for the conversion. While it is possible that they may delay the release due to the conversion, the studio has already shelled out more than $4 million just for its Super Bowl ad alone promoting that release date.

It remains to be seen if a post-production 3D conversion can even be pulled off in such a short amount of time. The studios have been much more cautious about 3D over the past few years, after hastily-planned conversions such as Clash of the Titans and The Last Airbender in 2010, which were done just weeks before their release dates, failed to impress moviegoers. Of course, technology has advanced rapidly since then, so it could be possible to pull off a high-quality conversion in just over one month. It's also possible that DreamWorks has been working on the 3D conversion all along, but kept it a secret for some reason.

However, in May 2012, just one month before it was set to be released, G.I. Joe Retaliation was pushed by nine months to March 2013 to undergo a 3D conversion. Will the same thing happen to Need for Speed? We'll find out as soon as more information comes in.

The film is scheduled to be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D on May 2, 2014.

The Expendables 3 is an upcoming American ensemble action film directed by Patrick Hughes, and written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, and Sylvester Stallone. It is a sequel to the 2012 action film The Expendables 2, and features returning cast members Sylvester Stallone,Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Ross was forced to kill Stonebanks after he became a ruthless arms trader, but Stonebanks survived and has now made it his mission to destroy The Expendables. It is the first film of the series to take place after The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, with the three previous installments being set between2 Fast 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift.

Principal photography began in the beginning of September 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia, with a casting call issued.Abu Dhabi has also been confirmed as a filming location, as the production crew chose it over Dubai and will benefit from the emirate's 30% rebate scheme. Pikes Peak Highway in Colorado was closed in September to film some driving sequences.

While on a break for the Thanksgiving holiday, lead actor Paul Walker died in a car accident on November 30, 2013.One day later, Universal announced that production would continue after a delay that would allow the film makers to rework the film.On December 4, 2013, Universal Pictures put production on Fast & Furious 7 on hold until further notice. Director James Wan has confirmed that the film is not cancelled.On December 22, 2013, Diesel confirmed on his Facebook page that the film would be released April 10, 2015.On January 6, 2014, it was revealed that Walker's character will be retired instead of killed, new scenes will be developed to retire his character and also will allow the franchise to continue.His brother, Cody Walker, has been asked to be the stand-in to complete the remainder of his scenes.

How do Brian, the conflicted cop, and Dom, the electrical-appliance-stealing bandit, settle their beef? With a climactic drag race, naturally. It doesn't end so well for Dom. He gets T-boned by a semi-trailer and flies through the air like Jordan. Not only is it karmic justice for all of his prior semi-trailer hostility, but it's one of the few crashes from the franchise that actually happens on the daily. Mama Toretto should've warned him about looking both ways before crossing.

VIN DIESEL ANNOUNCED THE RELEASE OF FAST & FURIOUS 7 TO BE APRIL 10,2015

 Fast and Furious 7, the delayed next instalment of the car-racing series that starred the late Paul Walker, will be released in 2015, co-star Vin Diesel has revealed via social media. 
On Sunday, Diesel announced on his Facebook page that the upcoming film will hit theatres on April 10, 2015.
"P.S. He'd want you to know first," the actor added, in reference to his co-star Walker, who died in a fiery car wreck in late November.

Universal Studios confirmed the news on Monday. Walker will still appear in the film, though Universal has not said exactly how it will handle his unfinished performance.The seventh film in the blockbuster action franchise was originally slated for release in July 2014, with about half the filming completed earlier this fall. Walker and Diesel were to be rejoined by familiar faces, including Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Dwayne Johnson.
